Inheritance registration will be mandatory from April 1, 2024, Reiwa 6, and if you do not apply within 3 years of learning about the inheritance, you may be fined up to 100,000 yen.

Even if the inheritance registration is successfully completed, if the real estate is not used afterwards, there will be financial disadvantages such as management fees and property taxes, as well as the risk of collapse due to aging, unexpected fires, and liability for damages associated with abandoned real estate.

However, selling real estate is not a rare event in life, and I think it will take a lot of hard decisions to make a decision because it moves a lot of money.
